A Personal Farewell From Ian Pratt After Three Wonderful Years

As many of you may already know, the time has come for me to say goodbye to Ladysmith Shopping Centre as I prepare to move on to the next chapter of my career.
Having been at the helm for the past three years, this is a moment that comes with mixed emotions. While I am looking forward to what lies ahead, it is never easy to walk away from somewhere that has been such a big part of your life, particularly when it is the people who have made it so special.
Over the past three years, I have had the privilege of working alongside some fantastic people, building relationships, tackling challenges, and sharing plenty of memorable moments along the way. There have been busy days, difficult days, achievements to celebrate and lessons learned, but through it all, one thing has remained constant: the people who make this centre what it is.
I have always believed that a Shopping Centre is about far more than the buildings, the shops or the day-to-day operations. It is about the people behind the businesses, the teams who work tirelessly behind the scenes, the contractors and partners who help keep everything running, and the wider community who walk through our doors. It is that collective effort, commitment, and sense of community that makes Ladysmith Shopping Centre a special place, and it is something I will take away with me.
I would like to say a genuine thank you to all our retailers, occupiers, colleagues, contractors, partners, and everyone I have had the pleasure of working with during my time here. Thank you for your support, your patience, your hard work, your honesty and, just as importantly, the laughs and conversations along the way. Every relationship has contributed to my experience at Ladysmith, and I am truly grateful for that.
Leaving is never just about closing one chapter and opening another. It is also about reflecting on the people you have met, the experiences you have shared and the memories you leave behind. For me, that is what makes this goodbye particularly meaningful.
Although I may be moving on from my role, I will look back on my time here with real fondness and pride. I leave knowing that I have worked with some wonderful people, and I sincerely hope the relationships built over these years will continue long after my final day.
Finally, I would like to wish everyone connected with the centre every success for the future. I know Ladysmith will continue to grow, thrive and achieve great things, and I look forward to seeing what the next chapter holds for you all.
Thank you for making the last three years such an important part of my journey. It has been a privilege to be part of it, and I will take away many happy memories.
This isn’t just goodbye to a place; it’s goodbye to a chapter filled with people, experiences, and memories that I will always value.
Take care, look after one another, and thank you for everything.
