1. Tell us about you, who you are, where you’re from and why you chose Ladysmith for your work experience.

My name is Matthew Monk, I prefer Matt. I come from Sutton-In-Ashfield. I chose Ladysmith for my work experience because I think it will be a great place to learn some things ready for actual work.

2. What do you think your day-to-day routine will look like at Ladysmith Shopping Centre?

Being in the management office working on computers and sometimes or most the time walking around the shopping centre making sure everything is great.

4.  What are you most looking forward to about working at Ladysmith Shopping Centre.

Seeing all the things available.

5. How comfortable are you with using computers and office software? Can you give any examples of some cool things you have done with computers?

Very comfortable, I have used tech and computer equipment for coding and creating many things like websites and Photoshop.

6. What if anything are you apprehensive about?

Meeting new people and talking a lot.

7. What do you think will be the most challenging part about working at Ladysmith Shopping Centre?

Managing things like money and the actual shopping centre itself.

8. What do you enjoy doing in your free time and do you have any hobbies you’re passionate about?

I play golf from time to time with my Grandad and Dad, which is often quite enjoyable. I am very passionate about golfing on the driving range.

9. Do you have a favourite store or place to visit in this shopping centre and why?

Greggs because the sausage rolls are delicious.

10. If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?

The power to Shapeshift into anything because it can let me do pretty much anything

11. What’s the most interesting book or movie you’ve read or watched recently?

Spiderman: Across the Spiderverse

12. Where do you want to be in 10 years time?

Probably working in the Tech Industry

Work experience provides teens with the opportunity to develop essential skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving. It also offers valuable insights into various career paths, helping them make more informed decisions about their future education and career choices.

It also enhances their C.V, making them more attractive to future employers. It demonstrates a proactive attitude, reliability, and a willingness to learn, all of which are highly valued in the job market. This early exposure to the workplace can significantly increase their employability in the long term.

Our team of experts will be on hand to share fascinating facts about these incredible creatures, making it a day of learning and fun for the whole family.

Arts and Crafts Fair – Unleash Your Creative Spirit!

Calling all budding artists and craft enthusiasts! On Saturday, 12th August, Ladysmith Shopping Centre transforms into an “Arts and Crafts Fair” where creativity knows no bounds. Immerse yourself in a world of artistic expression as you take part in a range of summer-themed craft activities. From making delightful sun-catchers to crafting your own summer accessories, there’s something for everyone. Plus, kids (and the young at heart) can get their faces painted with fun and vibrant summer-themed designs to add an extra splash of color to their day.

Alien Workshop – A Space Adventure!

Prepare for an out-of-this-world experience on Saturday, 19th August, as we create an “Alien Workshop.” Mini shoppers will be thrilled to create their very own alien flying saucers using paper plates and an array of art supplies. But that’s not all; a special guest, an extraterrestrial character, will be dropping by to add a touch of cosmic excitement. Don’t forget your cameras as you’ll have the opportunity to capture fun moments with this friendly alien visitor!

The Letter ‘A’ – A Theme for Every Event!

Throughout August, we have crafted each event to revolve around the letter ‘A.’ The Animal Encounter, Arts and Crafts Fair, and Alien Workshop are not only engaging but also offer a variety of experiences that cater to diverse interests. Whether you’re an animal lover, a creative spirit, or an adventurous soul, there’s an event for you!

This summer, we are excited to present an action-packed Awesome August for families and individuals in Ashton Under Lyne. The Purple Tuesday movement is highlighted each year by a celebratory day, the first Tuesday of November, also known as Purple Tuesday. In 2021, the celebration in the United Kingdom reached over 19 million; involved over 7,000 social media conversations; and received over 270 pieces of broadcast and print media. Purple Tuesday resonates with businesses and the community.
